About Us

The Damai Eagles Softball Team plays competitive softball during the schools’ season which begins in January and lasts till August. We compete in the National Schools' Softball Championships, the Bedok Green Softball Invitational Games and the Singapore Recreation Club’s (SRC) Softball Carnival on a yearly basis. We also welcome any schools wanting to arrange for friendly games/tournaments.

We welcome potential players of all levels and experience. Those interested normally go through a profiling physical test conducted during the secondary one orientation camp, during which they are assessed for their batting, catching and agility by the teachers in-charge and the coach personally. We are also actively scouting for potential players to join the team through our Outreach Programs where we collaborate with primary schools to create a platform to enhance the awareness of the game among younger students, and encourage them to take up the sport.

In the last 2 years since the arrival of our present coach, Mr. Sean Foo, the Damai Eagles Softball teams (‘B’ and ‘C’ divisions) have achieved Top 3 placings in the Bedok Green Softball Invitational Games and we have successfully progressed to the second rounds of the Singapore Schools’ National Softball Championship in the ‘B’ division, while the ‘C’ division continues to show improvement and determination which will surely allow them to progress further in their ongoing Nationals. These are all a phenomenal feat -- a proud legacy that we are determined to uphold.

Our Vision & Mission

To provide an environment of opportunities to students so as to achieve maximum sporting competency in Softball whilst developing students into young adults with strong character. Our softballers undergo a rigorous, engaging and enriching training programme where they develop proficiency in the area of softball skills as well as physical fitness. They also have opportunities to develop leadership, good character and build strong bonds with each other.

Student Leadership Development and Training

After last year’s success in organizing an in-school training camp for their juniors under the supervision of teachers in-charge and the coach, the ‘B’ division softball team of 2013 decided to continue with this tradition. Led by the Vice-Captains, our players successfully took charge of the camp and led their juniors in trainings and in-school activities that aim to foster team work, communication, and self-reflection. Through the guidance of the coach, and the careful planning of the ‘B’ division, the ‘C’ division players have learnt many valuable lessons, within and beyond the field, which we believe will influence their life in the near future.

Team scorers were also sent to participate in a scorer’s workshop organized by the Softball Association. From the workshop, they have learnt how to score a game properly and have since excelled tremendously during their call of duty in the SRC, East Zone, and Nationals tournaments. Now, senior scorers are encouraged to guide their juniors and teach the incoming players the professional and right way to score during a game situation.

Additionally, selected students from both divisions were sent to attend a first-aid course, to get them prepared should a need arises. And an outreach program has been set-up since 2009 so that our players get an opportunity to teach primary school children the game and encourage them to participate in the sport.
