Total Defence Day: Food Resilience Preparedness Programme
On Total Defence Day, students stepped into the shoes of a nation facing a food supply crisis during the Food Resilience Preparedness Programme.
Instead of heading to the canteen for a usual recess, students gathered in the hall to share a communal meal. Served in compact boxes and eaten at room temperature, the Ready-to-Eat meals included dishes such as Chicken Bolognese Pasta, Curry Chicken with Briyani Rice, Fish Porridge with Sweet Potato and Pumpkin, Sweet Spicy Tomato Fish with Basmati Rice and even a vegetarian Marinara Pasta option.
To complete the experience, the canteen offered a simplified lunch menu to reflect the limited ingredients that would be available during a food disruption.
This meaningful exercise left a lasting impression. It reminded students that food security cannot be taken for granted, and that resilience is not just about planning but also, staying adaptable, even at mealtimes.
